How we started...
Maggs Sport Media was founded by Neil Maggs and partners in 2017. The team have been working in Sport development for other 15 years, on various Sport England initiatives in both local authority and 3rd sector charities. Always passionate about getting more coverage for community clubs, we started to appear on various media platforms doing this. We founded the first radio show dedicated to the sector in 2014, the Midweek Sports on BCFM radio. It went on to win best UK radio show at the Community Media Association Awards in 2017.
This was taken to the small screen, founding Doorstep Sport TV show which aired on the Made TV network. Two series were made covering sports in deprivation areas of the west region. Both series were presented by a range of presenters from various minority groups.
Maggs has gone on to write regularly for Bristol Post, Bristol 247, X-tra Time magazine, Bristol Cable and Connect Sport on sport and it’s impact on local communities.
Most recently he has pioneered the Born and Bred web series for Trinity Mirror Newspaper group, which interviews elite athletes about their journey into sport, going back to where they grew up to talk about their biggest influences and barriers they faced.
Neil founded Maggs Sport Media in 2017, looking to offer a direct service to organisations in need of PR and content support. Now working with a team of digital journalists, web and graphic designers, and editors, Maggs Sport Media are leaders in this new field.
There is no other organisation with the experience of community sport and technical proficiency to create bespoke content for your brand.
